Merlin Search Technologies Announces Launch of Inaugural Advisory Board

Merlin welcomes six advisors with deep backgrounds in enterprise search, intelligence, cyber security, cloud architecture and discovery of all types to its Advisory Board.

August 2, 2022–Denver, Colorado: Merlin Search Technologies, a cloud technology company, developing AI-powered search software for investigations, ediscovery, and compliance, announced today the addition of six members to its newly-created  Advisory Board. Collectively, they bring expertise and experience from a wide range of disciplines including enterprise search, intelligence, cyber security, cloud architecture, and discovery of all types. Individually, they come with one common goal: to help Merlin develop technology to make it easier for people to find relevant information in large document sets.

“We are at a key stage in Merlin’s development, having launched our new search platform powered by Sherlock® the first AI-powered digital document bloodhound,” explained Founder and CEO John Tredennick. “We have already seen that Sherlock will revolutionize ediscovery search. The next step is to take Sherlock on the road, helping people in other industries find the information they need in large document collections,” he added. “We were looking for visionaries in other fields to guide us as we move beyond legal, and I feel like we hit the jackpot.”

The former Chief Technology Officer of the CIA and current founder/CTO of Applicology, Bob Flores, will lead the Advisory Board, bringing over 30 years of experience in complex search and investigations to the group. “I couldn’t be more excited to be involved with Merlin and this great group of advisors,” Bob exclaimed. “I first met Sherlock more than a year ago and had never seen anything like it in terms of speed and scalability,” he added. “He could have helped us with dozens of investigations in the past and I hope to help spread the word. That digital document bloodhound is going to change how people search for information across government agencies and commercial businesses alike.”

Bringing a different background to the mix, with over thirty years at Wells Fargo leading the company’s search efforts, is Kathlina Phillips, “We know firsthand how difficult and inefficient keyword search can be when it comes to large document populations,” Kathlina explained. “Even the best Boolean searches bring back too many results and too few of what you really hoped to find. Sherlock makes it much easier to find relevant information and it is as easy to use as Pandora or Spotify is for finding great music,” She added. “I am excited to help bring these new search capabilities to search professionals across the globe, and to take this far beyond the legal realm.”

Lucille Braun is a career money manager, who has spent the last 18+ years mentoring technology startups at MIT’s famed Venture Mentoring Service. “Over the years, I have helped many amazing companies change the world: from nanotubes for the semiconductor industry; to new ways to perfuse blood during open-heart surgery; to generating distributed power using solar energy and ceramic turbines,” she noted. “My investment and business philosophy across these very different verticals asks the same question: How will your product materially change the world?” she added. “I joined the Advisory Board because I believe Merlin Search is a material leap forward to taming data into useful information.”

“We are thrilled to welcome this group of innovative, experienced leaders to help us move Merlin to the next level,” concluded Tredennick. “Their combined expertise in key areas, such as enterprise search (government and private), privacy, security, and investigations, will be critical to our success as we take Merlin across industries and across the globe.

About Merlin Search Technologies

Merlin Search Technologies is a cloud technology company, developing AI-powered search software for investigations, ediscovery, and compliance. Our flagship product, Merlin Integrated Search, is the first Search 2.0 platform, and the first to offer keyword and algorithmic search in a user-friendly, integrated system. It provides a faster, easier, and more effective way to find relevant documents for investigations, discovery, and legal compliance.

Merlin IS is powered by Sherlock, the first AI-driven digital document bloodhound. In milliseconds, literally the blink of an eye, Sherlock can analyze documents a user has seen, build a machine-learning model, apply it to the rest of the population, and then return other highly relevant documents to further the investigation. Sherlock eliminates the need to craft complicated keyword searches, instead using smart algorithms to fetch relevant documents faster, more easily, and at lower cost than traditional keyword search.

Our mission is to revolutionize document search–the way Pandora changed how people find new music. For the first time ever, people will be able to find what they need in large document populations without having to master complex keyword search syntax.
